DD-WRT: Linksys firmware

Tenho andado com problemas no meu router cá de casa devido às transferencias BitTorrent.

Hoje fiz um teste, fiz upgrade usando firmware opensource DD-WRT. E é um verdadeiro espectáculo! Recomendo vivamente.

Sanefile

Ontem, finalmente, publiquei a primeira versão do meu utilitário para fazer mudanças e limpeza de nomes de ficheiros em batch, Sanefile - Filename Sanitizer.

Se fazem download de MP3, videos ou series TV, é muito útil para corrigir os nomes dos ficheiros sacados do BitTorrent.

Para se usar, precisa de Tcl que podem encontrar aqui: ActiveState Tcl

What is Sanefile?

It is a tool to easily and quickly clean and change a large number of filenames.

The idea started when I started “ripping” my own CD’s and the filenames were all different and full of errors. When I started getting TV downloads from other sources, the issue became a problem. I had to find an efficient way of changing a large number of filenames. Sanefile was the result. Simple, single-purpose and very efficient at it with total exploitation of Tcl’s rich Regular Expression capabilities.

What this tool is NOT: spy-ware, spam-ware, virus or any other crappy stuff.

HOW TO USE:

In Windows & Mac OS X, first install Tcl using ActiveState’s Tcl distribution if you haven’t already. While you’re at it, find out how easy and powerful it is to script in Tcl [Tcl Wiki].In Unix/Linux start Sanefile with: wish sanefile.tk

In Windows, click on sanefile.tk (Open with Wish).

Afterwards, “Change directory” to load files from a directory you want to clean up. All the files in that directory will be loaded into the lists. On top, you will have the original filenames. On the bottom, you will have the final filenames. The names that have changed are highlighted in RED.

You now can:

• Remove files from the listing by double-clicking on any filename on the top list
• Remove files from the list that match a certain criteria by using “List Filters”-> “Remove …”
• Keep only files on the list that match a certain criteria by using “List Filters”-> “Keep only …”
• Run your set of user filters (edit userfilter.tcl to expand rules)
• Edit filenames by double-clicking on the filenames of the bottom list
• Apply mass filename changes with “Apply rule” (see usage below)
• “Apply changes” which will change the modified filenames and reload the directory

OR “Reload directory” and abort any changes

FILTERS/RULES/REGULAR EXPRESSIONS:

With Sanefile, you can use the full power of regular expressions. For instance, imagine that you want to filter off all files starting with a A. To use the just A would remove from the list all the files with A in it. Not the solution. If you use ^A (Carat and A) it means that it has to match A only at the beginning of the text.

More examples:

^text       matches "text" in the beginning of the name
text$       matches "text" in the END of the filename
.       matches ANY character
[ ]     range indicator as in:
[a-z]       matches ONE letter "a" to "z"
[a-zA-Z]    matches ONE letter "a" to "z" and "A" to "Z"
[0-9]       matches ONE digit
[^range]    (caret) matches if NOT in the range as in:
[^0-9]      matches if it is NOT a digit
*       operator for repetition
.*      matches everything
[0-9]*      multiple digits
[^a-zA-Z0-9]*   a bunch of everything BUT a letter or digit
escape operator
t       tab
(       when you want to match (
.       when you want to match .
when you want to match  (RARELY DONE! Think why.)
()      used to group expressions
ab*     a followed with multiple b's
(ab)*       multiple ab (different from above!)

^Doors.*([A-Z][0-9]*).*.mp3$         Matches all files starting with Doors, have somewhere in the middle a letter followed by digits and end in ".mp3"

Os americanos não apreciam a ironia…

FIFA2006: Quel merde!

Enfim, acabou-se a aventura mas até foi simpático.

O que me chateia, no entanto, e me faz pena é a forma como acabou, com um sentimento de anti-climax, de potencial não realizado. Se tivessemos perdido a jogar bem, num jogo bonito, era diferente. Assim, foi duro de ver. Confesso que, apesar de até gostar do Scolari, não gosto e nunca gostei do estilo de futebol que as suas equipas fazem, demasiado defensivo. Basta ver que o Brasil foi campeão em 2002 praticando o pior futebol de sempre do “escrete” (que palavra horrorosa, não é?).

Mas não é só o estilo, é a falta de aposta num futebol ofensivo, como a Espanha ou a Itália fazem, apeser de terem jogadores com o mesmo perfil que Portugal. Esse é o meu desagrado com o “Mister” (outra palavra horrorosa!).

Ontem, depois de estarmos a perder depois de um penalty concedido estupidamente (*), podia ter apostado um pouco mais no ataque, substituir o Costinha mais cedo, não aos 74mins. Ou dar indicaçoes para se usarem as alas em profundidade e não fazer centros à inglesa. Enfim, mais ataque.

Perdendo a jogar bem, ao menos era mais aceitável e mais fácil de engolir. Como foi, deixou amargo de boca e não se vai falar da mesma forma mítica do que ainda se fala da meia-final de 1966 ou 1984. Perdemos por 1-0 mas não houve mérito, apenas desilusão. Soube a pouco. Trés peut, en effait.

(*) Falando em penalties estúpidos, detesto jogadores abrutalhados como o Ricardo Carvalho que inevitávelment fazem este tipo de erros. Toda a linha de jogadores como Fernando Couto, Ricardo Carvalho, Paulo Santos, Petit, Costinha, etc…

FIFA 2006: Vitória sobre a Inglaterra nos quartos-de-final

Foi muito sofrido mas a festa foi fenomenal, pelo menos para nós emigrantes!

Aqui em Neuchatel, a Policia fechou o centro da cidade e umas 2 mil pessoas desceram até ao centro para cantar, gritar e fazer barulho! :-)

A Suiça foi eliminada por uma Ukrania pouco convincente, nas grande penalidades.

Mas, se este menino é um exemplo dum povo, a Suiça prepara já a vingança! ;-)

FIFA 2006 enfim: espremer a laranja

Bem, não tenho tido a pachorra e motivação para blogar nestas últimas semanas mas agora tem que ser! ;-) Esta foto, originalmente de O Jogo, reflecte bem o espírito que se sente por estas bandas, relativamente ao jogo com a Holanda, da laranja mecânica. Antes espremida! :-)Para os emigrantes, estes eventos são uma oportunidade de exprimir as saudades de Portugal que são difíceis de explicar a quem nunca saiu de Portugal.

Força Portugal, vamos espremer a laranja!!

O maior parque de energia solar do Mundo

São poucas as vezes que temos oportunidade de dizer que Portugal está à frente do resto do Mundo. Esta é uma delas. Com a construção do parque em Serpa, cerca de 8000 casas terão energia eléctrica… durante o dia! :-) À noite, aquece-se com a Maria.

É claro que isto não foi obra do governo. Deus nos livre! Senão, qualquer dia até tinhamos uma administração eficiente e competente. Nada disso. É tudo iniciativa privada (Catavento) a esmifrar os fundos governamentais (i.e., alguém do Governo vai ter dinheiro para uma casa no Algarve com piscina).

Mas não interessa, temos maior central solar do Mundo! Até fomos citados em artigos no estrangeiro! (aqui (BBCNews) ou aqui, por exemplo)
